Snowshill
Being a secluded village, it is a great location to see what it’s really like in the English countryside. You will find many pretty, old, cottages here as well as some 19th century churches.

When visiting, you may recognise some of the areas and cottages from the Bridget Jones’s Diary film. Although filmed in June, the scenes were set up to became part of a snowy Christmas scene.

Snowshill is particularly best known for nearby Snowshill Manor and the Snowshill Lavender Farm.

Snowshill Manor

Snowshill Manor contains collections of many extraordinary treasures, collected by Charles Wade over his lifetime. From tiny toys to clocks and instruments, you can really experience the meaning of his motto, ‘Let nothing perish’. You can discover his love for colour and good craftsmanship in a place where the atmosphere has been maintained with the use of low lighting. The manor also has a delightful combination of gardens, designed by Charles Wade himself, with bright colours and refreshing scents.

Snowshill Lavender Farm

Snowshill Lavender Farm has 35 acres of lavender fields, where wheat and barley were previously grown. The free draining limestone soils, 1,000 feet above sea level, provide the best growing conditions for the high quality English lavender you can find here. The farm has over 35 varieties and over 250,000 plants in total. The lavender is also used to create a selection of unique products.

Places To Eat

Both the Snowshill Manor and Snowshill Lavender Farm have lovely tearooms where you can enjoy a traditional cream tea. The Snowshill Lavender tearoom even has lavender flavoured scones! Snowshill Manor also boasts a delicious restaurant where all of their food is homemade and they use produce from the kitchen garden where possible. In Snowshill itself you will also find the family-friendly Snowshill Arms Pub where you can enjoy a lovely log fire in the winter or bask in the sun in their garden with large children’s play area in the Summer.

Places To Stay

There are quite a few places to stay in the village itself, but you may also choose to stay in some of the nearby towns; Broadway being one of these. Broadway is a larger market town with a range of restaurants, shops and accommodation.

Whether you choose to visit Snowshill in the Summer and enjoy a cool drink in the pub garden, or in Autumn where the beautiful trees are covered in glorious red and orange leaves, you will definitely enjoy a visit to this peaceful, picturesque village!
