Frequently Asked Questions
What fitness level or other
physical requirements are necessary?
We are in the Cotswolds, so expect hills - although not
particularly steep, they do come quite often. Each day is a
practice ‘run’ for the next day, so you will find it easier
day by day. If you can cycle a little prior to the start of
your tour then this will add to your enjoyment.
What type of cycling will I
encounter?
Biking is on country lanes and paved roads and off the
‘beaten track’.
Do I need special clothing?
No, but these items of clothing will help make your tour
more comfortable – cycling shorts and flat soled
sneakers/tennis shoes. Cycling gloves are a personal choice.
Bring a lightweight top. Day bags are provided to carry top
when not needed, camera etc.
Can you name accommodation
prior to booking?
The tours are based on B & B's and small Inns as this
area has no hotel chains, so we cannot give a specific named
accommodation. This is determined at the time of booking. We
do personally inspect accommodation and some are in historic
houses, some have great gardens but all have a warm welcome.
Hosts also have a depth of local knowledge. As we live and
work in this area we make sure that each accommodation
offers a full English breakfast, all have private bathrooms
and are within easy walking distance of restaurants, wine
bars and pubs.
Could you accommodate our
own choice of place to stay?
Remember, websites do not always reflect reality and
location of the accommodation – this is especially important
when you are on bikes.
What sort of bike?
We use ‘Dawes’ 24/27 geared hybrid cycles that are regularly
renewed. We get a lot of feedback on the high standard of
our cycles. Cycles are personally fitted to make you as
comfortable as possible. Every cycle is serviced before it
goes out on tour.
